about
experience
I’ve always loved being involved in creative and community spaces—it keeps me inspired and connected.
Right now, I work as the graphic designer for SVA’s student-run radio station, WSVA, where I get to create visuals that match the energy and personality of the station. From poster designs to digital graphics, it’s been an awesome way to combine my design skills with my love for music and storytelling.
I’ve also worked as an assistant for Oz Curiosities, helping out with creative tasks and learning the ins and outs of running a small art-based business. That experience really pushed me to grow both artistically and professionally.
Outside of art, I’ve done a lot of community service and taken on leadership roles in school, which have taught me how to collaborate, organize, and support others. Those experiences have shaped how I approach both my creative work and the people I work with.
About Me
Hey! I’m Jade Leilani Ortiz — a Puerto Rican artist born, raised, and based in New York. I’m currently studying for my BFA in Illustration at the School of Visual Arts.
I pull a lot of inspiration from horror artists, manga creators, and band illustrations, and I love mixing those influences into my own work. My art leans grungey, sketchy, and detailed, and I mainly work in ink, linocut, or digitalmediums.
I’m super passionate about character design and graphic design, and one of my biggest goals is to create a manga-inspired graphic novel or comic someday.
When I’m not drawing, I’m probably listening to music, staring at cool typography, or doodling characters that might show up in a future project.
